Pied Kingfisher – hovering

After a few wonderful days in Mapungubwe, a place I love, I have started editing photos. While there, and in a very dry landscape, I managed to spend some time at a pan with some really interesting and varied bird life. This Kingfisher flew close to where I was trying to get a shot of another bird and hovered over his pray, so I aimed the lens in his direction and fired away. These are the four photos I thought were best.
